Namaste! We bow to the divine in you.
Sri Jagannath Center (SJC) was established in 1998 in India with the objective of teaching jyotish in the tradition of maharishis like Parasara and Jaimini. Jyotish or Vedic astrology is taught by a panel of jyotish gurus in the traditional jyotish parampara of Sri Achyuta Dasa of Jagannath, Puri. SJC attempts to infuse the highest standards of integrity through the strict discipline of yogic practices of Vedic tradition including training in remedial measures.
Meditation including dhyana, dharana, and pranayama is taught to ensure spiritual discipline while classes on scriptures and Sanskrit ensure a balanced spiritual growth along with the knowledge of astrology. SJC aims at continuing the time honoured guru-shishya tradition and is dedicated to the propagation of Vedic and Vedic Astrology learning covering the gamut of allied subjects including astrology, scriptural studies and mantra shastra, numerology, vastu shastra, shakuna Shastra, swapna shastra and yoga. It concentrates on propagating research in the highest scholastic tradition in the different areas of jyotish and aims at demystifying the subject by rescuing it from the hands of quacks, while restoring its dignity and prestige that it enjoyed previously. SJC has numerous students around the world who are connected through e-lists (Achyuta Gurukulam, Varahamihira, Vedic Astrology) and free online classes where there are intense discussions on a variety of issues. The highest learning takes place with the holy name "puruśottama jagannāth" on our lips. Sri Jagannath Center (estd. 1998) aims to provide a forum for free sharing of this knowledge among scholars, amateurs and professions alike. All are the same in the eyes of Jagannath. SJC is a jyotish ashram where all take shelter under one God (although called by many names) and bask in the param-jyoti (supreme light) of His sudarshana chakra.

Jagannatha Hora version 7.2
From: Narasimha P.V.R. Rao
Date: Fri, May 9, 2008 at 7:43 AM
Subject: Please Update to Jagannatha Hora 7.2
Namaste,
My best wishes for a pleasant Rishi Panchami!
Please update to Jagannatha Hora 7.2. It is available now.
The previous version 7.1 released in March had some serious problems. It was running noticeably SLOWER than previous 7.02 version and also could not make charts older than 3000 BC. These problems are fixed.
The default ayanamsa is changed from “Lahiri (Chitrapaksha)” in 7.02 to “Modified Lahiri (Chitrapaksha, mean plane)” in 7.2. If you do not like it, you can change it back using the “Preferences” menu.
Even the regular Lahiri ayanamsa implemented in 7.02 had a minor error and it is corrected in 7.2. However, I recommend using “Modified Lahiri” instead of regular “Lahiri". This modified Lahiri ayanamsa fixes the zodiacal plane as the mean Sun-earth plane, instead of taking a variable oscillating Sun-earth plane to project the planetary longitudes.

Please do not send me any emails. Please use the yahoogroup “jhora” (jhora@yahoogroups.com) for discussing issues related to this software release and getting suggestions from others.
Best regards,
Narasimha

Jagannatha Hora 7.1
Hare Rama Krishna
Namaste friends,
Jagannatha Hora 7.1 is ready for downloading. This is the latest version. It has some bug-fixes and improvements from the previous version 7.03. The important ones are given below:
(1) Jagannatha Hora now works on Windows Vista. Earlier, it would work on Vista, but the preferences could not be saved. The problem is fixed now.
(2) US changed daylight saving time definition from 2007. The previous version of JHora did not have the correct definition. So standard time would be incorrectly used instead of daylight saving time for some charts in March, the first few days of April and the last few days of October. This is fixed in version 7.1 and daylight saving time will be correctly calculated for 2007 and later years.
(3) Drigdasa of Parasara as explained in my Jyotish Digest article is included. You can still use the drigdasa variation taught by some SJC gurus (including me) in the last 10 years. However, I strongly recommend using Parasara’s drigdasa.
(4) Some more options are added in ayanamsa. Specifically, you can use a variation of Chitrapaksha ayanamsa (aka Lahiri ayanamsa) that uses the mean Sun-earth plane for projecting planetary positions, instead of the normal oscillating Sun-earth plane. While we are fixing the starting point of the zodiac in each ayanamsa, the plane of the zodiac itself is oscillating in the regular ayanamsa implementations. But the plane is also fixed in this variation. Look for “Vishnunabhi plane (Chitrapaksha)” under the ayanamsa options. I recommend that. It makes hardly any difference for natal charts (even in divisional charts), but makes a difference in the divisional charts of Tithi Pravesha charts.
(5) Some overlapping text in Kalachakra dasa and Tribhagi Vimsottari dasa in the printouts is fixed.

Narasimha
